Title: Graphic Design/Web/Videography Interns Wanted.

Attention all students,

16 Blocks Magazine is the free print and online monthly based in Blacksburg that covers local arts and culture.  We stand out for our variety of local content and our high quality graphic design.  Last fall, we successfully worked with our first two graphic designer interns from Virginia Tech, and we are currently looking for new Field Study interns interested in a hands-on publishing intensive experience with the magazine for the spring of 2009.

We assign our design interns 4-12 pages to lay out over the course of a month.  They will be provided with text, graphics, and photos and be expected to lay out the pages taking into account our style and branding while applying their own creative vision.

Successful VCD interns will be proficient in Photoshop, Illustrator, and InDesign. Interns’ work will be published in print and online.  We will also be delegating some of our advertising design contracts for a small stipend per ad.

We are also seeking multimedia specialist interns as we increase our presence on the web.  Web interns will update and design pages using Wordpress and should also be proficient in IMovie and IPhoto.  Our web-designer’s work with 16blocksmagazine.com was instrumental in his hiring by Rackspace, an award-winning company (Fortune, Inc. Magazine) which is recognized nationwide.

We look forward to hearing from qualified candidates who are interested in a Field Study placement with 16 Blocks Media.

Contact publisher Hart Fowler at 16blocksmagazine@gmail.com for more information.  You will also need to fill out a Field Study form in the Armory front office.
