InnovationSpace Employment Opportunity

Virginia Tech’s InnovationSpace (formerly known as the New Media Center) is looking for new employees starting in the spring semester!
Many of you have probably passed by the InnovationSpace in Torg 1140 or used it to check out equipment or work on multimedia projects. The ‘Space is a multimedia computer lab open to the students, faculty, and staff of Virginia Tech, as well as the local general public, with the mission of providing assistance through free and open access to software, hardware, and specially-trained staff. Working there helps you build your skill set with new media and allows you to share your wealth of knowledge. If you’re comfortable with the Adobe Suite, Final Cut, and/or HTML/CSS, then IS could totally use your help.
Employees start with a semester-long (unpaid) ‘internship’ in which they put in as few or as many hours as they’d like during the week as a training period; after that semester, you become a paid employee. You have access to Lynda.com and awesome equipment, have opportunities to help with cool projects that faculty are working on (ex: John Boyer is a frequent patron of IS), and get better at the software that we all have come to know and love.
For more information, go to http://www.is.vt.edu or feel free to shoot me an email (or ask Carter Reed, Tanicia Bethea, or Xiaoyi Zhong).
To apply for a position, go to http://www.is.vt.edu/contact. It’s preferable that you’ll be at Tech later than Spring ‘09.
